Long before the modern farmhouse craze, I’d been dreaming of a large kitchen with vintage inspired tin ceiling tiles.

Our entire kitchen was designed around two panels accented with tin ceiling tiles that would be installed above each island. I’m not kidding when I say – this was the most challenging part of completing our home {but more on that later}.

Tin Ceiling Tiles are a simple way to make a big impact and affordable way to transform any home and kitchen.

Friends often ask where the inspiration originated and if you know anything about southern interior design – tin tiles are a thing. Once upon a time, a visit to my cousin’s beautiful Mississippi home featuring vintage ceiling tiles in the kitchen – sealed the deal. I made a mental note that if I ever had the opportunity, that design would be in my home too.

Tin Ceiling Tile Inspiration

A bold feature and a BIG commitment especially custom ceiling panels {can’t undo once the drywall goes up!}, but after being inspired by so many beautiful kitchens featuring tin ceiling tiles – how could I not take a chance? It’s surprisingly a cost effective way to provide a serious wow factor to any home and a simple way to add an interesting design element to ceilings, walls and backsplashes.

While I was confident tin tiles were meant for the future #sochichome, I wasn’t sure how to accomplish with an open concept floor plan. It all began with this home.

Being obsessed with this particular kitchen is an understatement but the kitchen layout was similar to ours and I loved how the tin tiles were flushed with ceiling. The vintage inspired tiles added interest above the two islands without competing with the adjacent living room.

It’s easy to see how tin tiles can make such a bold design statement. Here’s a look at the latest kitchen trend that was a must-have in our home.

Not just for the ceiling, tin tiles are making a comeback being used as backsplashes, accent walls and more.

The most common question asked – Are tin tiles difficult to install?

Tin Ceiling Tiles are a simple way to make a big impact and affordable way to transform any home and kitchen.

Installation is pretty simple if you’re handy with a nail gun! We had a little help from our trim carpenter {more on how to install tin tiles coming soon}, but tin tiles are definitely a DIY project too.

We partnered with American Tin Ceilings, maker of  the most beautiful tin ceiling tiles and moldings.  Not only do they have a large variety of designs and colors of tin tiles for ceilings and walls, they provided a ton of support selecting just the right product and answered all our installation questions.

The kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in the house!

I love tin ceilings. I had one in my bedroom growing up. They are so old fashioned, but super cool looking.

I am not sure a tin ceiling would look good in my home, unless someone who had mad design skills re-did my home to look like these photos. I love it but just couldn’t do it myself.

I would definitely consider tin ceiling tiles. They add so much style and a classic look to the kitchen. I live in a 90 year old house and they don’t make them like this anymore so those tiles give it a well made look as well.

I adore the tin ceiling look. I’ve always admired it whenever I gone into to old restaurants are bars and seeing how they have restored the tin. It gives the room such a unique look and feel.
